Using Facebook, Myspace, iTunes, Bandcamp, ReverbNation, and many more, artists have all sorts of new avenues they can pursue to gain attention for their music. The problem is that only a small population of music listeners are actually pursuing new music. People have found artists and genres they are comfortable with, and unless a new song is really pushed, people are more comfortable with what they're used to (myself included). Mainstream music suppliers know that people will react positively to a proven playlist, and they further exacerbate the rut we find ourselves in.<br /><br />Instead of bringing us to new music as they are intended to, all of these new media avenues allow listeners to easily reach and stay in their musical comfort zone. Luckily, there are exceptions to this rule, and they help discover and spread new, creative, good music. I was recommended this song by a friend, and it's one of the best emo songs I've heard in a long, long time. Please listen and enjoy Love, Robot's new single "Cucha":<br /><br /><iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/o5gb03AbGPg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>Cooperhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05633379295909364722noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5488570865108109385.post-46034465774742910932011-09-18T22:58:00.000-07:002011-09-18T23:16:27.742-07:00Stevie B. WolfIn the last few years I've spent a lot of time with musicians, some very successful and some not so much. It's clear to me that it takes a lot more than talent to succeed in anything, but especially music. Stevie Wolf is clearly a musician who works. He's the guy who's spent thousands of hours crafting, perfecting, practicing, rehearsing, and it shows. </br><br /> <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhG6bNVHjAuC-3KLqjmW9HLZqufNYyoMYrqOvd3HUVGe8Y0qtgtzVJzDsb58z9v0nlvbfJR3lnYjfmAH_js5gsY9wg_BVvtd4QlspD7uFfch93TzbW1f4tdXMLpAlDq8aBs4OwnUbWmHJQ/s1600/mzi.uiwpumvl.170x170-75.jpg"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 170px; height: 170px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhG6bNVHjAuC-3KLqjmW9HLZqufNYyoMYrqOvd3HUVGe8Y0qtgtzVJzDsb58z9v0nlvbfJR3lnYjfmAH_js5gsY9wg_BVvtd4QlspD7uFfch93TzbW1f4tdXMLpAlDq8aBs4OwnUbWmHJQ/s320/mzi.uiwpumvl.170x170-75.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5653949581809593538" /></a> With his first release Sky Blues: A Demo, Stevie had an edgier sound, almost like a Sonic The Hedgehog soundtrack in the best way. It leans towards pop-punk, ska, with a little bit of surf rock thrown in. While these older songs definitely demonstrate Stevie's talent, I feel that in his newer releases on <a href="http://www.myspace.com/steviebwolf">Myspace</a> are much closer to the real Stevie. Writing music is always a self-searching, self-defining process, and with his new songs I think he's gotten a lot closer to his real style. Almost Perfect, Christmas In July, and Life Through a Camera Lens sound like they were written by John Mayer's younger and better looking brother. They're chilled out, super polished and they allow Stevie some breathing room for his smooth, playful vocals and melodic, classy, technically complex guitar parts. </br><br /> Stevie is a very talented musician with a work ethic to match. His songs are fun, catchy, and easy to pick up and sing along to. If you dig John Mayer, Dispatch, or just good music, you should give Stevie B. Wolf a few moments of your time, you'll be glad that you did.<br /><br />For more info check out:<br /><a href="http://www.myspace.com/steviebwolf">http://www.myspace.com/steviebwolf</a>Cooperhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05633379295909364722noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5488570865108109385.post-38216336558936177972011-01-09T21:17:00.001-08:002011-01-09T21:31:07.145-08:00Super Cool Dance Time ClubUsually my taste in music falls somewhere between nuthuggers with straightened hair almost until pointy Rumpelstiltskin indie boots. This latest recommendation really comes to you straight from my dancing shoes, instead of my usual my emo teen angst. Two Door Cinema Club is very quickly taking over the world. It's an awesome show about four guys who just set out to accomplish their goals in life and help a lot of people along the way. Not only is it an entertaining way to spend 22 minutes of your life, but the Buried Life is absolutely inspiring. If you haven't seen it, you should definitely check it out.<br /><br />The same inspired and limitless feeling that I get from watching the Buried Life also struck me today while jamming on LastFM. Greener by All The Day Holiday is a soaring anthem that invokes the bittersweet notion that no matter who you are or where you are in your life, you have the chance to seize life and live it to the fullest.<br /><br /><object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/D7GvnVlNb08?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/D7GvnVlNb08?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object><br /><br />For More Songs and Info Click Here: <a href="http://www.last.fm/music/All+The+Day+Holiday">http://www.last.fm/music/All+The+Day+Holiday</a><br /><br />And if you love this song, get the album <a href="http://rapidshare.com/#%21download%7C615dt%7C231717043%7CAll_The_Holiday_-_The_Things_We_27ve_Grown_To_Love.rar%7C61047">HERE</a>Cooperhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05633379295909364722noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5488570865108109385.post-86281484343392983482010-11-28T11:45:00.000-08:002010-11-29T17:58:49.610-08:00Lydia AssailantsThe news is out, Lyida is breaking up, but they left us with a little gift in the form of their Assailants EP. I listened to their full length a good amount, but it never grabbed me enough to really get into them. The band had some time to mature, and they really stepped it up with their last release as Lydia. The Assailants EP is a little more poppy while keeping the stock Lyida sound, and also not being so depressing I can't listen to the whole CD(see the full length).<br /><br />Some of the highlights come from the great lyric and melody writing. From the first full song <i>We Clean Up So Well</i> comes some great musical moments.<br /><br />Just stay with the V.I.P's<br />Limousines.<br />It's all in the photography,<br />and the parties.<br />Now that you're here,<br />I guess we made it.<br />I saw the fear, it covered your faces.<br /><br /><object height="385" width="480"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/RsfJYUjSiXE?fs=1&hl=en_US"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/RsfJYUjSiXE?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" height="385" width="480"></embed></object><br /><br />Another highlight for me comes from track 4 <i>I've Never Seen A Witch</i>.<br /><br />All hail the queen still<br />I've never seen a witch this mean<br /><br />This really isn't a review, this is one music lover telling you to listen to this EP right now, you won't be disappointed.<br /><br />To hear some trax check out: <a href="http://www.myspace.com/lydia" target="new"><span style="color:#e65360;">www.myspace.com/lydia</span></a>bubbleshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09927520027195228301noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5488570865108109385.post-21644046846528169182010-11-17T09:09:00.000-08:002010-11-17T12:44:57.198-08:00Life On Hold - The Run-Around EP<style type="text/css"></style><span style="color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">Starting off with a dash of string quartet, </span><span style="font-style: italic; color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">The Run-Around EP</span><span style="color: rgb(255, 255, 255);"> kicks into some sugary pop punk that could part the clouds on even the gloomiest Boston day. "Forever and Always" as well as "The Greatest Let Down of the Century" are incredibly catchy songs that will keep you awake and singing along like a Halloween sugar high. The my favorite part of Life On Hold's <span style="font-style: italic;">The Run-Around EP</span> and their live show is that every member has major vocal skills. Everyone involved has awesome pipes, and they consistently make use of them. Even with so much talent, all of the members of Life On Hold are totally down to earth, nice people. Breathingsparks make their full length debut with a tight grip on their space-age synth sounds, a complete lock on their pounding bass beats, and lyrics that could make Chuck Lidell's heart flutter and swoon.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGENioAyoRXhCJcRFVPZqTha5Jr9KRMxX-alJXC5ITUn0E1Egt8m7-nNEb2a2a8W-mp4Uq5ArmD4-TLPr9XXyINTfzbW95Xrp9QKNdFj50AlTOqf8u30omRA33tJm8-IVACOeaqfc7GsBX/s1600/Artist-9776742-26102_374012911447_536901447_3847713_606255_n.jpg"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGENioAyoRXhCJcRFVPZqTha5Jr9KRMxX-alJXC5ITUn0E1Egt8m7-nNEb2a2a8W-mp4Uq5ArmD4-TLPr9XXyINTfzbW95Xrp9QKNdFj50AlTOqf8u30omRA33tJm8-IVACOeaqfc7GsBX/s320/Artist-9776742-26102_374012911447_536901447_3847713_606255_n.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5535774772273447890" /></a><br /><br />Returning to “Contact”, Breathing Sparks display their incredible progress. Humbly beginning as two friends tinkering with their first MIDI keyboards and Garageband, Keenan Jolliff and Kiran Surdhar have become electronic artists that truly compete with established professionals.<br /><br />Throughout the album, the ambitious songwriting never lets up. Creativity permeates every layer and fold of the artistic songs. Breathingsparks does an incredible job giving each track its own life. They have gracefully avoided the “same synth sounds” rut that many electronic artists get caught in. Every song on this album has its own clear identity. “When All Seems Lost” ranges from dance club beats, to chiptunes, to instrumental poetry slams, to poppy emo electronica.<br /><br />The songs, especially “Melody” and the title track “When All Seems Lost”, beautifully walk the line between Daft Punk and Blink 182. Melodies will have you instantly singing along, but lyrics will keep you chewing on songs for weeks.<br /><br />To check out "Melody" and It's "Gonna Rain All Night": <a href="http://www.purevolume.com/breathingsparks" target="new"><font color="#E65360">Click Here!</font></a><br /><br />Produced by Nick Esposito of The Title and Alpha Studios, “When All Seems Lost” sounds huge. With groove to spare, Nick is a MacGyver of synth sounds. He could take a 70's roller disco and remix it into an Aphid Twin track. Needless to say, Nick is an incredibly talented producer and songwriter who clearly has bright future both with his band and producing career.<br /><br />Impressively talented for their age, Keenan Jolliff, Kiran Surdhar, and Nick Esposito have created one of the best electronic releases of the year. A multicolored light show crushed into a tasty bite-sized ten song album, “When All Seems Lost” is a success and sure become a staple in the genre.<br /><br />To Pre-Order this kickin new collection of jimmy jams check out:<br /><a href="http://www.breathingsparks.bigcartel.com/product/when-all-seems-lost-pre-order" target="new"><font color="#E65360">Breathing Sparks at Big Cartel</font></a><br /><br />For more info on the band check out:<br /><a href="http://www.myspace.com/breathingsparks" target="new"><font color="#E65360">http://www.myspace.com/breathingsparks</font></a>Cooperhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05633379295909364722noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5488570865108109385.post-76148702100138443882010-10-19T09:36:00.000-07:002010-10-19T18:45:07.351-07:00I Hope You Brought Your Clever EarsStates recently released their debut EP called Line ‘Em Up and I gotta tell ya, it’s a doozy. This new group features Mindy White(Lydia) as well as musical veterans Bryan and Stephen Laurenson (Copeland). These songs take the cozy, haunting quality of Lydia and bring it to the pop/rock world. Give this a listen and try not to sing along (I’m watching you…).<br /><br /><object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Ebkq4MeP9k8?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Ebkq4MeP9k8?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object><br /><br />For more info check out: <a href="http://www.myspace.com/states">http://www.myspace.com/states</a>Cooperhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05633379295909364722noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5488570865108109385.post-12335345480938515252010-10-03T10:17:00.000-07:002010-10-03T10:44:42.119-07:00Arrow to the SunYou guys might not know this, but I consider myself a bit of a loner. I tend to think of myself as a one-man wolf pack. But when I bought the new Arrow to the Sun album, I knew it was one of my own. And my wolf pack… it grew. So there… there was a new album in my wolfpack… Anyway… what I’m trying to say is that this album makes me feel like a wolf, a wolf who found an awesome new six track CD.<br /><br />Be Brave is a headbanging good time. Each song is carefully constructed and jam packed full of soaring vocals and twisting guitar leads. Jimmy Pianka artfully and poetically bends words to his will. Every song on the CD allows the listener to connect on a simple emotional level, but it’s clear that behind the scenes there’s more content and story to these lyrics. <br /><br /><object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/67SiLmlL_FY?fs=1&hl=en_US&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x999999"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/67SiLmlL_FY?fs=1&hl=en_US&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x999999" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object><br /><br />The guitar work of Jeffrey Brooks and Nate Kerbin is familiar yet uniquely new. The two axe swingers switch between lead and rhythm with class, creativity, technical skill, and dissonances that would make Dexter Morgan smile his menacing mischievous smile.<br /><br />Be Brave is a shining new album from the growing Boston music scene that proves opening for TREOS is only the beginning for this great new band. <br /><br />Also, “The Wolf Pack” would be an awesome name for the fan club. Just sayin.<br /><br />Buy their shirts:<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhi5lztRbr9zIoQvPHS88NdcWkXlMzXnHvxz15VLcgmuZ09lieBTmWLewyerRBNI1aCDxjQuvG7DXIg1kwfJlDrJnN4ekA8cNVEZUXUERElE8bIf5FJqCJwQksT6eYud5i2zb6JXG2kU8M/s1600/detail_pharoaha_mock.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 206px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhi5lztRbr9zIoQvPHS88NdcWkXlMzXnHvxz15VLcgmuZ09lieBTmWLewyerRBNI1aCDxjQuvG7DXIg1kwfJlDrJnN4ekA8cNVEZUXUERElE8bIf5FJqCJwQksT6eYud5i2zb6JXG2kU8M/s320/detail_pharoaha_mock.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5523874799324842962" /></a><br /><br />For more info check out: <a target="new" href="http://www.myspace.com/arrowtothesunband">http://www.myspace.com/arrowtothesunband</a><br /><br />and to buy sweet shirts check out: <a target="new" href="http://www.districtlines.com/arrow-to-the-sun">http://www.districtlines.com/arrow-to-the-sun</a>Cooperhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05633379295909364722noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5488570865108109385.post-87916447746836031612010-09-12T23:19:00.000-07:002010-09-12T23:27:32.164-07:00Feel Bored DragStarting off with some rock, the new Anberlin album Dark Is A Way, Light Is A Place starts off powerful and engaging. Pressing forward and hoping for another Paper Thin Hymn, I'm sad to say I was let down. With each track my mind continued to wander farther from the album. In an interview with Absolutepunk.net, a band member was quoted saying this new record had an "in the zone" feel all throughout the writing and recording process.<br /><br />While I wish Anberlin had created a masterpiece worthy of competition with Britney Spears' third studio album, it didn't have a "Toxic" feel to me. Regardless, as one of my favorite bands, I really hope they are successful enough with this release to record a new album that leans more towards New Surrender and Never Take Friendship Personal than the "Dream Within A Dream Tour".<br /><br /><object height="385" width="400"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/bjE_2fFMnG0?fs=1&hl=en_US&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x999999"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/bjE_2fFMnG0?fs=1&hl=en_US&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x999999" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" height="385" width="500"></embed></object><br /><br />As a side note:<br /><br />"Woahs" have become a dangerous tool in a songwriters bag of tricks. Through the development of our genre, "Woahs" have become a cheap tactic in a formulaic songwriting pattern to add some free, and most of the time heartless, catchyness. Please! replace those "Woahs" with lyrics unless you can nail an absolute perfect moment.<br /><br />For more info check out: <a href="http://www.anberlin.com/">http://www.anberlin.com/</a>Cooperhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05633379295909364722noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5488570865108109385.post-55912927935876993242010-02-07T22:25:00.000-08:002010-02-07T22:57:33.122-08:00Alter The Ending - Dashboard ConfessionalOn November 10th 2009 Dashboard Confessional released Alter The Ending featuring some radical new tunes which push Dashboard in a rock direction, while keeping the well crafted emotional, singer-songwriter lyrics. <div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>The CD begins just the way Dashboard Confessional started: Chris Carrabba and a guitar. The track "Get Me Right" features a two verse intro with a melody on the words "get me right" that swirls up and away like a firecracker gone rogue</div><div><br /></div><div>"Alter The Ending" alters the dashboard ending and brings the half time, "little Devotional" Esque Rock intro that I was begging for. After bringing it up a notch, Mr. Carrabba brings it back down to the old scool dashboard style with "Even Now". Incredible imagery depicts the lonely, missing, hopeful protagonist that we all have somewhere deep down inside of us. Hoping he can strum the ghost of a girl back into his life.</div><div><br /></div><div>After this melancholy adventure on the staircase, we take a right turn into the hallway of Dashboards brick house. Another turn reveals the devious science lab where frothing beakers, bubbling potions, some synthesizers, and hopefully some of the missing muppets have been hiding all these years. Here is where the "pop"sicle called "The Motions" was somehow extracted from the back of Carrabba's mad scientist brain. My favorite track on the CD goes where no Dashboard has been before and busts into the synth pop world to take a look around. A song about the chemical reaction that is love, this song makes the chemical reactions in my brain just sing along like those hyenas in the lion king.</div><div><br /><center><br /><object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/1pcPwj85hj8&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0x402061&color2=0x9461ca"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/1pcPwj85hj8&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0x402061&color2=0x9461ca" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object><br /></center><br /><br /></div><div>The single on the album "Belle of the Boulevard" is a catchy, well constructed song, but to me it feels almost formulaic. Boasting some amazing "Hey!"s, this track is sure to get the crowd on their feet. My favorite track on the album is the band's second single "Brick By Boring Brick". Written about a fairy tale romance gone ary, this song has some creative lyrics and a prechorus/chorus that I promise will one-two punch you into sing-a-longsville.</div><div><br /></div><center><object height="344" width="425"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/uWHEQ3zDKes&hl=en_US&fs=1&"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/uWHEQ3zDKes&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" height="344" width="425"></embed></object></center><div><br /></div><div>Recently Paramore has been releasing acoustic videos which are very impressive. Before the release of their album there were countless videos of their songs Decode, Ignorance, and even a Kings of Leon cover that are simple jaw dropping. Hayley's voice has definitely matured over the last few years of Rock N' Roll. She has unbelievable control and range which really shines in an acoustic setting.</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><center><object height="340" width="560"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/UUntAEBpDSE&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0x402061&color2=0x9461ca"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/UUntAEBpDSE&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0x402061&color2=0x9461ca" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" height="340" width="425"></embed></object></center></div><div><br /></div><div>For More Info Visit:</div><div><br /></div><div><a href="http://www.paramore.com/">http://www.paramore.com</a></div><div><a href="http://www.myspace.com/paramore">http://www.myspace.com/paramore</a></div>Coophttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10969847003540001441noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5488570865108109385.post-39939738735301324202009-10-26T10:47:00.001-07:002009-10-26T11:50:42.100-07:00Every Avenue Leaked Early Through Alex From ATL<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhExKGUyvj1Lq-zJBdjTfm_pcZIbHZ7B1732gAqP3RMRLttFXmWubl2N9glXvLLi0ekL6qPkb0iZ_8jhtk53G641RmUWnvXmSXzMaJdHVpA3Z6mNIf-vzuv2WOdrZ0vPcyqrH0Zw7-eLQ8b/s1600-h/every_avenue.jpg"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhExKGUyvj1Lq-zJBdjTfm_pcZIbHZ7B1732gAqP3RMRLttFXmWubl2N9glXvLLi0ekL6qPkb0iZ_8jhtk53G641RmUWnvXmSXzMaJdHVpA3Z6mNIf-vzuv2WOdrZ0vPcyqrH0Zw7-eLQ8b/s200/every_avenue.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5396977010985310546" /></a><br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;">New Every Avenue Song Leaked! With my imagination brush, I shall paint you a story of the most epicest proportions. Take my hand. No seriously, take my hand right now.... Ok good. Here we go.</div><div><br /></div><b>The Setting</b> - A veterans center in Melrose Massachusetts sporting 70's decor with old brown carpet, cheesy office ceiling tiles, a chandelier, and bowling trophies in the windows.<div><br /></div><div><b>The Drama</b> - A show of pretty solid local bands headlined by the up and coming "movers and shakers" Conditions.</div><div><br /></div><div>The curtain opens (there was definitely no curtain) and conditions has effectively turned a highschool dance floor, discoball included, into a rock venue fit for only a true troupe of tight pant, tattooed, spiky haired rock stars that you would be reluctant to bring home to mom (allright fine, they were extremely nice southern boyz you would actually be pretty proud to bring home to mum). Not only did they bring the ruckus with their hot jams, they basically brought their own stage set up. The band provided three platforms out in front of the stage, two separate banners, a rig of flashing lights above the drummer, and a strobe light under the singer, all covered in the "Conditions" color scheme and logo. Opening with their proven and trusted "Keeping Pace With Planes", every scene kid in the youth center turned with their head cocked to the side, asking themselves "Wait, is that Therefore Tomorrow's older, better looking, brother's band?". Once the attention was grabbed, Conditions held the unsuspecting youthz gaze' stronger than the new blonde intern at the office attempting to put her whole fist in her mouth. </div><div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" white-space: pre; font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:10px;"> <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/hytdvWP9HPo&hl=en&fs=1&"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/hytdvWP9HPo&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object></span></div><div><br /></div><div>The set included songs from their Self Titled EP (released in early 2008), as well as new tracks from their new EP entitled "You Are Forgotten". Throughout the 6 songs frontman Brandon Roundtree sang extremely well, soaring above the dark and heavy guitars while switching from "I'm extremely good looking" stage antics to "I'm seriously possesed" looks of insanity that would earn him a high five backstage from Ozzy Osbourne. The other band members Jason Marshall, Alex Howard, and Ryan Tinsley we're equally as solid, and with only a few exceptions they completely nailed the instrumentals.</div><div><br /></div><div>In this day and age of vampire sex idols, melting ice caps, and fueds between Kanye and my girl Tay Tay (Team Tswift obv) its hard to find a band that really delivers both in a live show and a recording. Conditions is definitely one of those few diamonds in the rough, and you need to check them out.</div><div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:Arial, sans-serif;font-size:85%;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" white-space: pre;font-size:10px;"><br /></span></span></div><div><b>To Find Out More Visit:</b></div><div><br /></div><div>http://www.myspace.com/conditionsband</div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div>Coophttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10969847003540001441noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5488570865108109385.post-31156669939412547502009-09-10T12:26:00.000-07:002009-09-10T20:17:37.850-07:00Saosin - In Search of Solid Ground<div><div><div>When it comes to a good ol' "Search For a Solid Album", Lil Wayne (as usual) said it best in his guest rap in the song "Down" by Jay Sean:</div><div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> <span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span></span>Indefinitely, not probably, and honestly I'm down like the economy</div><div><br /></div><div>"In Search of Solid Ground", Released September 8, ended my search (at least for the week) for some hot jams with singers who couldn't sing nearly as high without such tight jeans, busy guitar shredding, and drummers who shake their sexy hair all around when they beat the crap out of their kit just like the legendary muppet, Animal. Mr. Cover Reber starts this journey through emo rock with a soft haunting whisper "Keep Me <span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span>A Secret", I however will not be keeping this hard hitting full length a secret in any way.</div><div><br /></div><div><b>Notable Tracks -</b></div><div><br /></div><div><b>I Keep My Secrets Safe</b> - Brings the rock just like older Saosin. Would fit on their last release flawlessly.</div><div><br /></div><div><b>On My Own</b> - A remake of an older song, they "never thought they'd let you down" and I promise this track won't.</div><div><br /></div><div></div><div><b>What Were We Made For?</b> - Incredible prechorus will have you singing like Mike Tyson in "The Hangover". Hopefully less punching, but if they stole your tiger they might deserve it.</div></div><div><br /></div><div>Before these tracks were released, the album artwork was displayed on Absolutepunk.net. Surprisingly all of the forum posters absolute(punk)ly hated it. Upon reading this negative response, Saosin went back to their roots with a simpler piece of art sporting the inside gears of a clock on a black background.</div></div><div><br /></div><div><b>First Draft:</b></div><div><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDJaR8hyphenhyphen7nCO30J3OfHZm3HskQ8GAakjllbf1wwi-ZiVnW7cYevyjturhp5d4SJOdhhLT4kc1j0X0tb8VhR5y1jKuSPVDRZXTZna7SLxtLTRSiCvVR9-MaEQdRWzhue0M1CvC3kk7XtTa4/s1600-h/Original_SAOSIN-COVER_large.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDJaR8hyphenhyphen7nCO30J3OfHZm3HskQ8GAakjllbf1wwi-ZiVnW7cYevyjturhp5d4SJOdhhLT4kc1j0X0tb8VhR5y1jKuSPVDRZXTZna7SLxtLTRSiCvVR9-MaEQdRWzhue0M1CvC3kk7XtTa4/s320/Original_SAOSIN-COVER_large.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5379937134202709490" /></a><br /><div><b>Final Cover:</b><div><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbcbge1TTFKP1caHKr2cDVekGPGpnd2fiPR6BbGDtXYuZn3IPa609IvqfpLrrXUesPxO0LpXmW8PXeaFzuOC8y0Geja8XaoJyqtEjMLVkJGb5WoZXqXADGkv2jEI4BbUVcAi3r6mrndNWo/s1600-h/new-saosin.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbcbge1TTFKP1caHKr2cDVekGPGpnd2fiPR6BbGDtXYuZn3IPa609IvqfpLrrXUesPxO0LpXmW8PXeaFzuOC8y0Geja8XaoJyqtEjMLVkJGb5WoZXqXADGkv2jEI4BbUVcAi3r6mrndNWo/s200/new-saosin.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5379936789524648594" /></a><div><br /></div><div><div><b>To Find Out More Visit:</b></div><div><br /><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> </span><a href="http://www.myspace.com/saosin">http://www.myspace.com/saosin</a></div><div><span class="Apple-tab-span" style="white-space:pre"> <a href="http://www.saosin.com/"> </a></span><a href="http://www.saosin.com/">http://www.saosin.com</a></div></div></div></div>Coophttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10969847003540001441noreply@blogger.com1
